You must first remove all usb attached to the system and follow the above steps to solve the problem successfully…. There should be a kernel option somewhere to enforce the kernel being really "quiet"...but not sure I suggest activating that as we have no idea if this error is serious or REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARD DRIVES OR HARD DRIVE CONTROLLERS. What you're not understanding is how can the Boot Manager be missing on a fresh installation - a blank hard drive? The only thing that worked was booting from floppies, and installing WinXP that way. DISKPART> select disk 0 (the disk will be number from 0 onwards) you should now get a message that disk 0 has been selected. I am getting a media test failure message on boot up.
